- INTERRUPTED YOUTH; THE RULES Rule #1, Respect; First of all, treat everyone with respect, whether or not you are a guest, member or staff. We are all here to role play and have fun, and if there is any conflicts there is always a nice and calm way to deal with the problem. If there is anyone that violates this rule once, the conflicts will be temporarily banning for the site, if you then violates the rule again you will get temporarily banned again, but a little longer this time, and if you do it for the third time you're officially banned for all of eternity. So please, behave and treat everyone with respect.
Rule #1.2, Discrimination; Alright, let's get this out of the way. Racism, sexism, homophobia or any other kind of discrimination against another person is not allowed. It is okay if you're making a character that is a racist or whatever because that might be one of your characters flaws or so (aka, it isn't in real life), but among us players it is out of the question. You will get the same treatment as you would if you would break rule number one. Just behave, alright?
Rule #2, Application; You have two weeks to complete your application before it is removed, once those weeks are over you're application will be moved to the deleted character folder and you'll have to take contact with an admin to get it back. This is usually not a big deal and most of the time and we'll probably accept it if you have a good reason for why you wasn't able to finish your character on time. If it happens a lot of times though, unfortunately you'll have to start your application over.
You are allowed to play around with the character template, just make sure that you have all of the information that is needed included in your characters bio. If you do not include it all, you're character will not be accepted and you'll have a chance to edit it in. You are also not allowed to change your face claim unless you ask an admin before and gets an okay from them about it.
Rule #2.1, Professionalism; Interrupted youth is an advanced role play forum, made for those who have been role playing for a while, with that being said, this isn't a place where a newbie will be rejected. We are very helpful and there is nothing wrong with asking whatever question you need to know. But at the same time we're expecting our members to be able to keep a somewhat professional standard on their role playing and character making. Your character is needed to have a fulfilled bio and the role playing on the site has a minimum of 150 words in each reply. We understand that writer's block can happen to anyone, but take your time and try to at least.
Also, when it comes to making multiple characters, you are more than welcomed to! Just please try to not make copies of your character all of the time and try to keep the as original as possible. We also want you to be able to keep a lot of characters going at the same time, and if the admins notice that some of your characters hasn't been used in a while we will try to contact you to let you know, but if you still can't seem to keep all those characters going, then sadly we will have to remove some of them. We want this site to be an active one after all.
Rule # 2.2, Format; Because to not stretch the boarder of the forum, please only use pictures that are 500 pixels in width, same goes with any kind of pictures or gif being used in the signature. If you do not, the admins will contact you and ask you to remove them. Your icon is expected to be 200x200, otherwise it's gonna look silly with the boarder around the icons. Ask for help if you can't find a icon in the correct size and the admins can help you change the size of your icon!
Rule #2.3, Character Ratio; Because we don't want Interrupted Youth to just be based around only dead or alive people, we have put up an ratio among them. We want to keep it at around 30% dead people and 70% alive people, because the dead still is pretty much a secret around town, and if there was too many of them, everyone would know, right? Because of that, if there are too many of one or the other, we will have to put a ban on creating that certain kind of character. So if you're planning on having a lot of characters, please try to make some of the dead and some of the alive, it will not work if everyone is playing a multiply of alive/dead people only.
Rule #2.4, Occupation & Living; Norden is a small town, but there are a lot of places to work at. Your character will have to fill out where your character work if the have a job, you can write whatever comes into mind but please make sure that there is a possibility for your character to actually have that occupation, so no Space Cowboys, Captain of the Normandy and so on. But other than that, your character can be anything between math teacher to prostitute. We also would like you to decide where your character will live, there are at the moment three different areas where your character can live. Crimson Maple Lane is where the more well off families live in Norden, this is your ordinary dandy big expensive mansions, with nicely mowed lawns and secrets hidden behind closed doors. Blue Creek Road is located on the other side of town from Crimson Maple Lane and is where all the medium income families live. It is a nice place to grow up, throughout the neighborhood runs a small creek, which the place got it name from. The last place left is Still Sparrow Apartments which is located near the town center. The apartments aren't the best, but it is cheap. Most of Norden's low income inhabitants live here.
Rule #3, Role playing; There are a couple of things that are forbidden when it comes to roleplaying on interrupted youth. Power Play is absolutely off limits. Power play means that you are controlling another persons characters action with what you are writing, for example "Penny slapped David hard on the cheek. David fell to the ground with a faint scream because Penny was so much stronger than him", here the character Penny is controlling Davids reaction to her slap - and that is not okay. Instead, let the person playing David react to the slap the way he or she had intended him to react. God Modding is also forbidden. God modding is when your character basically is perfect and has no flaws what so ever. No one is perfect, remember that.
Liquid Time is allowed. That means that you are able to have multiple threads going at the same time with your character without you needing to wait for a thread to finish before starting a new one with your character.
Sexual content is sadly not allowed because of Proboards PG-13 rules. That doesn't mean that you are not allowed to play with the idea of having sex in the roleplays, just make sure to "fade out" when it comes to the love making. If you really feel like you want to roleplay any kind of sexual content, then please do that on Skype or wherever you choose to roleplay off the site (but make sure to tell us about it in the journals because we would love to know all the details, just try and keep it PG-13!)
Rule #3.1, Excessive characters; Even if Interrupted Youth is based on a pretty unnatural story line, with dead people coming back to life, we still want to keep the site pretty logical. There is nothing wrong with having a character that has been through a lot of stuff, but try and keep it at least somewhat realistic. If your character has killed 45 children before coming to Norden, then it might be pretty unrealistic that that person hasn't been caught by the police yet. Just make sure that everything you write and describes is logical and can be explained. But don't take this rule too hard, have fun! The admins are watching but we're nice people who understands that roleplaying is just a way to express your creative mind. We just doesn't want the site to turn into a competition of "who is the most extreme character around".
Rule #3.2, Bumping threads; Please do not bump your inactive threads, that is unfair for the newer threads. Instead, post your unanswered threads in a thread tracker or contact someone over PM or the shoutbox instead. Most of the time you can always get some one to answer, and some times it is just so that all threads doesn't get an answer and you'll have to accept that. Of course, we admins will do our best to make sure that everyone has some one to roleplay with at all time. But just don't bump your threads, it isn't fair.
Rule #4, The Last One; Have fun! This is a place of love and it is made for the ones that love to write and tell stories. We are all here to just play out our creative minds and create something other than everyday life. Don't be afraid of the admins, we are here for you, so please ask if there is anything you want to know, we don't bite! Just remember to not take everything too serious, have fun and let your fingers hit away on the keyboard. We love you all, and we hope you'll enjoy your stay.
